11 teachers and students from Foreign Language High School Affiliated to Shanghai Normal University visited their Canadian sister-school Bodwell High School to conduct a two-week-long friendly exchange in July, 2017.
During their visit, students were cordially welcomed by teachers and students from Bodwell High School and experienced North America high school curriculum. From these challenging, interesting and creative courses, students’ English levels were improved greatly and comprehensively.
Under the careful arrangement of the sister-school, students lived in local families, which helped them not only experience authentic Canadian family life but also better understand local culture and customs. More importantly, their English conversational ability was improved rapidly. Besides, students also walked out of the campus and enjoyed the unique culture and natural sceneries in Vancouver. At weekends, they went hiking in Victoria and Whistler, accumulating humanistic qualities during the tour.
This activity broadened students’ international view, had them better understand the importance of respecting other cultures and enriched students’ learning experience.
